WorkRyde
Terms

Terms of service.

Last updated 30 July 2026.

1. Who we are

Workryde is a technology platform that connects people who register with checked work emails for carpooling. The platform is operated by Parzo Limited, a private limited company incorporated in Kenya with its registered office in Nairobi. References to “we”, “us” and “Workryde” in these terms mean Parzo Limited. We are a technology intermediary and we are not a licensed transport operator. We do not employ drivers.

2. Acceptance

By creating an account or using the Workryde app you agree to these terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the platform.

3. Eligibility

  • You must be at least 18 years old.
  • You must have a valid work email address at an employer registered on the platform.
  • Drivers must hold a valid Kenyan driving licence and maintain insurance that covers fare-paying passengers. We do not collect or verify either document. Holding them is your obligation, and offering rides without them is a breach of these terms and of Kenyan law.
  • You may not create an account if you have been permanently suspended from the platform.

4. Your account

You must provide accurate information when registering and keep it up to date. You are responsible for all activity under your account. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us at support@workryde.com immediately. We may require you to re-verify your work email periodically, currently every 30 days.

5. The platform

Drivers post a ride, including the stages they intend to pass through. Those stages define the route shown to riders. Riders book a seat on that route. We provide the booking interface, payment handling, routing and communications tools. The transport itself is provided by the driver directly. We make no representation about the quality, safety, or suitability of any particular ride, driver or vehicle.

6. Rider terms

  • Book only the seats you intend to use.
  • Be at your stage on time. When the driver arrives, a waiting window starts. Its length is set by us in platform configuration and is currently 3 minutes. We may change it, and the current value is shown in the app. If it expires the driver may record a no-show and continue, and the fare is not refunded.
  • Treat drivers and co-riders with respect.
  • Do not request or accept payment outside the platform.
  • Do not carry prohibited items (see clause 10).

7. Driver terms

  • Carry a valid driving licence and proof of insurance at all times.
  • Ensure your vehicle is roadworthy and passes any applicable inspection.
  • Drive soberly. Zero tolerance for alcohol or drugs while driving.
  • Drive the route you posted. Your stages are the route. Departing from it without a genuine road-conditions reason is a breach of these terms and can be measured against your device's recorded position.
  • Stop at each stage where a rider is waiting, and wait out the full waiting window before recording a no-show.
  • Do not accept cash from riders at any point.
  • Do not carry more passengers than your vehicle is licensed to carry.

8. Payments and payouts

Riders fund a Workryde wallet. The fare is held from the wallet when a booking is made and released when the ride completes. Drivers receive 80% of every fare, and the remaining 20% is retained by Workryde as a platform fee. A completed fare first enters the driver's pending balance and becomes withdrawable after a settling period, currently 24 hours, provided no complaint has been filed on that ride.

Payouts are made only on a driver's request, are subject to a minimum request amount (currently KES 50), and are reviewed and approved by us before being sent to the driver's registered M-Pesa number. We do not guarantee a settlement time. A payout may be rejected, in which case the amount is returned to the driver's withdrawable balance.

Fare limits, the platform fee, the settling period and the minimum payout are set in platform configuration and may change. The values in force are shown in the app.

All prices are in Kenya Shillings (KES) and are inclusive of any applicable taxes unless stated otherwise.

9. Cancellations and refunds

Rider cancellations are refunded on a tiered basis, measured against the scheduled departure time. The tiers below are the values currently in force and may be changed in platform configuration.

  • 3 hours or more before departure: full refund to your wallet.
  • Less than 3 hours but at least 30 minutes before departure: half the fare is refunded.
  • Less than 30 minutes before departure: no refund.
  • Driver-caused cancellation: if you cancel because the driver is late or has declared a delay, you receive a full refund regardless of tier, and the driver receives a rating penalty.
  • Declared delay: if a driver declares a delay before departure, every confirmed rider is automatically refunded part of the fare, funded from that driver's pending earnings. The current tiers are 10 minutes for 10%, 20 minutes for 20%, 30 minutes for 30%.
  • Driver no-show, abandonment or diversion: where we confirm the driver failed to collect you, left before the waiting window expired, drove your route without stopping, or left the posted route, the full fare is refunded.
  • Refund destination: refunds are credited to your Workryde wallet. Moving money out of the wallet to M-Pesa is a payout request under clause 8.

Drivers may only cancel a ride while at least 3 hours remain before departure. A driver who cancels is barred from hosting or advertising rides for the rest of that day.

10. Prohibited conduct

The following are prohibited on the platform:

  • Providing false identity, employment or vehicle information.
  • Accepting or requesting off-platform payment.
  • Harassing, threatening, or discriminating against any user.
  • Carrying illegal weapons, narcotics, or other prohibited items.
  • Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
  • Falsifying your device location, including with a mock-location app, to fake a pickup, a route or availability.
  • Filing a knowingly false diversion report or complaint.
  • Manipulating ratings or reviews.
  • Attempting to reverse-engineer, scrape, or otherwise misuse the platform.
  • Using the platform for any purpose other than personal commuting.

11. Ratings and enforcement

After each ride, riders and drivers rate each other out of five stars. Ratings feed a public average shown on your profile. There is no automatic rating threshold that removes an account; low ratings inform review by our team.

Automated enforcement is keyed to conduct, not to stars. A driver who abandons a rider at a stage collects a strike; 3 strikes in 30 days places the account under review and 5 in total suspends it. Where we confirm a route diversion, a first incident is recorded without penalty, a second incurs a fine equal to the affected rider's fare plus a suspension of 24 hours, and a third results in a fine and permanent suspension. All of these thresholds are set in platform configuration and may change. No fine or suspension for a reported diversion is applied without review by a member of our team.

12. Safety and SOS

The app includes an SOS feature that sends your location to the emergency contacts you have saved and alerts the Workryde team. It is not an emergency service. In an emergency, contact the Kenya Police Service or the relevant emergency number first. Workryde does not record audio or video at any point.

13. Intellectual property

All content, trademarks, and software comprising the Workryde platform are owned by or licensed to Parzo Limited. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our written permission.

14. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or permanently close accounts that violate these terms, accept cash off-platform, or pose a safety risk to other users. We will give notice where it is practicable to do so, except where immediate action is required for safety reasons. Any wallet balance at the time of closure will be paid to the registered M-Pesa number within seven days, except where funds are subject to a dispute or an outstanding fine.

15. Limitation of liability

Workryde is a technology intermediary. We are not liable for the acts or omissions of drivers or riders, road accidents, vehicle defects, or delays caused by traffic or weather. To the maximum extent permitted by Kenyan law, our total liability to you in connection with any single incident shall not exceed the value of the fare for that ride. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our own negligence, or for fraud.

16. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Kenya. Any dispute arising from or in connection with these terms shall first be referred to mediation. If mediation fails, disputes will be resolved by the courts of Nairobi, Kenya.

17. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or in-app notification at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the platform after that date constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
