1. Who we are
Workryde is a technology platform that connects verified coworkers for carpooling. The platform is operated by Parzo Limited, a private limited company incorporated in Kenya with its registered office in Nairobi. References to “we”, “us” and “Workryde” in these terms mean Parzo Limited. We are a technology intermediary and we are not a licensed transport operator. We do not employ drivers.
2. Acceptance
By creating an account or using the Workryde app you agree to these terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the platform.
3. Eligibility
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- You must have a valid work email address at an employer registered on the platform.
- Drivers must additionally hold a valid Kenyan driving licence and maintain insurance that covers fare-paying passengers.
- You may not create an account if you have been permanently banned from the platform.
4. Your account
You must provide accurate information when registering and keep it up to date. You are responsible for all activity under your account. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us at support@workryde.com immediately. We may require you to re-verify your work email every 30 days.
5. The platform
Workryde matches employees who share a commute route. We provide the booking interface, payment processing, and communications tools. The actual transport is provided by the driver directly. We make no representation about the quality, safety, or suitability of any particular ride.
6. Rider terms
- Book only the seats you intend to use.
- Arrive at the pickup point on time. The driver is not required to wait more than five minutes.
- Treat drivers and co-passengers with respect.
- Do not request or accept payment outside the platform.
- Do not carry prohibited items (see clause 10).
7. Driver terms
- Carry a valid driving licence and proof of insurance at all times.
- Ensure your vehicle is roadworthy and passes any applicable inspection.
- Drive soberly. Zero tolerance for alcohol or drugs while driving.
- Follow the route shown in the app unless road conditions require a safe deviation.
- Do not accept cash from passengers at any point.
- Do not carry more passengers than your vehicle is licensed to carry.
8. Payments
Riders fund a Workryde wallet via M-Pesa. Fares are deducted from the wallet at the end of each ride. Drivers receive 80% of every fare into their driver wallet. The remaining 20% is retained by Workryde as a platform fee. Payouts are processed on driver request and settled to the driver’s registered M-Pesa number within one business day.
All prices are in Kenya Shillings (KES) and are inclusive of any applicable taxes unless stated otherwise.
9. Cancellations and refunds
- Free cancellation: cancel at least 15 minutes before the scheduled departure for a full refund to your wallet.
- Late cancellation: cancellations inside 15 minutes may incur a cancellation fee of up to 20% of the fare.
- Driver no-show: if the driver does not arrive within 10 minutes of the scheduled pickup, you may cancel for a full refund.
- Refund timeline: refunds are credited to your Workryde wallet immediately. Withdrawal to M-Pesa is processed within one business day.
10. Prohibited conduct
The following are prohibited on the platform:
- Providing false identity or employment information.
- Accepting or requesting off-platform payment.
- Harassing, threatening, or discriminating against any user.
- Carrying illegal weapons, narcotics, or other prohibited items.
- Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- Manipulating ratings or reviews.
- Attempting to reverse-engineer, scrape, or otherwise misuse the platform.
- Using the platform for any purpose other than personal commuting.
11. Ratings and reviews
After each ride, riders and drivers rate each other out of five stars. Ratings are averaged over the last 50 rides. Users whose average rating falls below 3.5 may be suspended pending a review.
12. Safety and SOS
The app includes an SOS feature that shares your real-time location with nominated emergency contacts and alerts the Workryde safety team. In the event of a serious incident, we will co-operate fully with the relevant authorities. Safety incidents should also be reported to the Kenya Police Service.
13. Intellectual property
All content, trademarks, and software comprising the Workryde platform are owned by or licensed to Parzo Limited. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our written permission.
14. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or permanently close accounts that violate these terms, accept cash off-platform, receive repeated low ratings, or pose a safety risk to other users. We will give notice where it is practicable to do so, except where immediate action is required for safety reasons. Any wallet balance at the time of closure will be refunded to the registered M-Pesa number within seven days, except where funds are subject to a dispute.
15. Limitation of liability
Workryde is a technology intermediary. We are not liable for the acts or omissions of drivers or passengers, road accidents, vehicle defects, or delays caused by traffic or weather. To the maximum extent permitted by Kenyan law, our total liability to you in connection with any single incident shall not exceed the value of the fare for that ride. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our own negligence, or for fraud.
16. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Kenya. Any dispute arising from or in connection with these terms shall first be referred to mediation. If mediation fails, disputes will be resolved by the courts of Nairobi, Kenya.
17. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or in-app notification at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the platform after that date constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
